What does it mean to get your small business verified on Facebook? Let’s give you a really good example. If you look at Chris Hemsworth’s Facebook page by searching for ‘Chris Hemsworth’ on the Facebook search bar (go ahead, it’s as good an excuse as any), you’ll see that the top one has a blue tick but the others don’t. The blue tick signifies that the first page is indeed the God of Thunder himself.
Now blue ticks are only for the big guns – celebrities, giant brands, gods of thunder — but it doesn’t mean small businesses can’t get their tick as well. The grey badge on a page means that Facebook has verified that that page is indeed the page for that certain organisation or company.
Although you are not required to be verified on Facebook, that tick will rank you higher on Facebook and give your small business credibility. If you look like a trustworthy page on Facebook, potential customers (as well as your customers) will trust your brand even more.
So how do you get your small business verified on Facebook? In this post, we have the top tips on how to get that much-coveted tick for your small business page.
Have a Facebook page
Set up your Facebook page first and fill it up with the important bits, like:
- Profile pic
- Cover pic
- Contact details
Make sure you’re also the admin of your page. After everything has been set up and your page looks legit, you can then follow the instructions Facebook listed below to verify it.
- Click Settings at the top of your Page
- From General, click Page Verification
- Click Verify this Page
- Enter a publicly listed phone number for your business, your country and language
- Click Call Me Now to allow Facebook to call you with a verification code
- Enter the 4-digit verification code and click Continue
You can also choose to verify your Facebook page with documents like your business phone bill. To do this, click Verify this Page with documents and then upload a picture of an official document containing your small business’s name and address.
After that, your application will go through a review process.
How long before you hear back from Facebook?
It varies each small business. Also, they might come back to you and say you sent the wrong documents or that they need more proof. You’ll have to send through what they need and wait again.
Sometimes, it can get frustrating going back and forth with Facebook on this. But just stay cool and be patient. That grey tick will be good for your small business.
